Very heavy rains lashed Chinnmannur – Veerapandi belt as a result flash floods happened in some areas with Veerapandi recorded 124 mm rainfall while Ambasamudram in Vaigai River (not to be confused with Tirunelveli Ambasamudram) recorded 110 mm rainfall. A UAC lies over coastal Tamilnadu & adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal and extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. A trough in easterlies runs from this above UAC to Lakshadweep area across the interior Tamilnadu & Kerala in lower tropospheric levels. Another UAC lies over southeast Arabian Sea between 4.5 km & 5.8 km above mean sea level. It is likely to persist during next 2-3 days.
